• Specialist Interests: Joint replacement, Oxford partial knee replacement, hip resurfacing, and revision surgery
• Wide experience of primary and revision joint replacement together with arthroscopic surgery of both the hip and the knee
• Experienced in metal on metal hip resurfacing, ceramic on ceramic hip replacement and minimally invasive unicompartmental knee replacement
• He has particular expertise in the surgical management of inflammatory joint diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and in the management of prosthetic joint infection
• Trained initially at Cambridge graduating with first class honours and proceeded to clinical medical training in Oxford, prior to appointment as Consultant in Oxford in 1995
• Clinical Lecturer in Orthopaedic Surgery to the University of Oxford for seven years during which time he gained a Doctorate for research on human bone cell biology relevant to clinical practice, particularly bone grafting
• Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer in Orthopaedic Surgery to the University of Oxford teaching both anatomy to undergraduate students and clinical surgery to graduate medical students
• Research Associate of St. Catherine’s College, Oxford and College Lecturer, University College, Oxford
• He is programme director in trauma and orthopaedic surgery for the Oxford region, responsible for forty orthopaedic surgeons in training. He speaks regularly at national and international meetings on topics related to adult hip & knee surgery and teaches regularly on instructional courses
